Melrose Primary School is situated in Wodonga in rural Victoria, Australia. Our school believes that the pursuit of academic excellence can be further achieved if we include social and emotional learning in our core curriculum. Our motto “Dedicated to Academic Excellence and Emotional Wellbeing” encompasses our values and anchors our work.
At Melrose Primary School children are taught to become masters of their feelings rather than victims. In addition to daily instruction in literacy and numeracy, we also teach students the 5 pillars of emotional intelligence (empathy, self control, self awareness, motivation and managing relationships) in a daily one hour teaching block. Our staff are committed to making a difference for our students by teaching them the skills and behaviours necessary for achieving success in an uncertain and changing future
